Monster Hunter Tri

I now understand why systems sell like crazy in Japan when a new Monster Hunter is launched on it. The game is an awesome mash up of 3rd person melee combat, gear collecting RPG, and a nature exploration vibe of something like (I assume, never played) Endless Ocean or Afrika.

The combat is easy to learn, tough to master and constantly evolving with every new monster type you encounter. You unlock new types of weapons as you work your way up the “hunter’s guild” quests which send you after bigger and badder monsters. The scale is insane!
